Our Mission

The Mission of Portland's Office of Equity and Human Rights is:

• Eliminating discrimination and bigotry,
• Strengthening intergroup relations, and
• Fostering understanding, inclusion, and justice in our city.  

Our work is guided by the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Our Work  

Education and Peace Building Program inspires Portlanders to learn and take action

on human rights issues in our communities.

New Portlander Programs integrate refugees and immigrants into the life of our city.

The Intergroup Dialogue Program engages participants from different communities 

in structured group activities, providing tools for addressing local social injustice.
